Welcome to the Saint Matthew’s Lodge website

For over 200 years the Lodge has been part of Andover’s social fabric. Since 1822, when the lodge was chartered, men of Andover have found life-long friendships and inspiration in their lodge membership.

FAMOUS and every-day MASONS

George Washington, Paul Revere and Sam Adams are among the many founding fathers who were Masons. The list of famous Masons is long and represents all fields of accomplishment; from great military leaders to artists, from sports heroes to inventors, and from writers to astronauts. Even Shaq and Brad Paisley are Freemasons. Check out this list to see if your favorite hero was a Mason.

Masons come from all walks of life, professional men, business men, men who work with thir hands. Part of what makes Masonry special is that we care more about who you are and who you want to become, than what you do for a living.

Why Do Men Become Masons?

Every Mason has his own reasons for joining the Fraternity. For many it is about making lasting friendships, some of them decades long. For others it’s also about giving back to his community through volunteering with organizations like the Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. Some men are drawn to the connection Masonry has with American history through founding fathers like George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Sam Adams. Still others have a family tradition of membership.

Freemasonry is a worldwide brotherhood. No matter where you go, you can find immediate connections, camaraderie, and involvement in the community. Masons support their fellow members in good times and bad, with an unbreakable bond of brotherhood.

Our social benefits are many. Meeting great people that you might not have otherwise encountered. Enjoying activities for couples and families. Being in the company of people who try to live by the highest standards.

Masonry is inspirational, too. Working on projects that help others. The ceremonies of our institution express those values that right-thinking men have taken to heart in all ages and in all civilizations.

How can I find out more? How do I join?

If you know a Mason, talk with him. If not, there are several ways to discover who we are and what we do. You can call us at 978-409-2140 to talk with one or our members. Leave a message and we’ll get back with you shortly.

You can attend one of our open houses. We usually hold them at least once per year. We would also be pleased to have you come to one of our social events with or without your wife or girlfriend. We have dinners, movie nights, sports outings, and other social events throughout the year.

Or you can visit (or volunteer with us) at one of our Red Cross blood drives, Habitat for Humanity builds or other community service events. It all starts with a phone call. We’d enjoy getting the ball rolling.
